This is a beautiful, rich artistic statement by an accomplished composer at a peak in her career. It resonates deeply with all that musical art can be and do. Speaking as a poet, I believe that this insightful creative statement could also inspire other artists who draw on embodied meanings elaborated in specific media, including poetry and visual art, film and sculpture. I’m grateful to Jane for expressing and sharing it here.
